Robert Louis Stevenson.

In May 2008 I spent over three weeks travelling in Turkey and am now giving a series of talks based on my trip covering the following topics:

Modern Turkey with its fascinating culture and history.

Walking long-distance footpaths such as the Lycian Way.

If you are interested in finding more information about visiting Turkey, then the website below offers comprehensive itineries to suit all tastes:

Morocco stands uniquely at a centuries old crossroads between Africa and Europe. It has been influenced by the rise and fall of many cultures and empires spanning both continents. The modern Kingdom of Morocco is a reflection of this cultural heritage. Over Christmas and New Year I visited this amazingly diverse country and enjoyed many new experiences in the ancient city of Marrakech, the Atlas Mountains and saw in the New Year unforgettably camel riding in the Sahara Desert! A talk covering all this and more will be coming soon!

Also look out for a new talk based on a walk along the Brecon and Monmouthshire Canal. One of the wonders of 18thC. engineering, it snakes its way from Brecon to Newport. It has been transformed from a major transport link to a wonderfully peaceful leisure facility, both a haven for wildlife and crammed with insights into our industrial heritage. It hugs the contour lines as it passes through the Brecon Beacons National Park, giving outstanding views of countryside and mountains. A "must do" walk for anyone who enjoys the outdoors and a rare opportunity to enjoy a gradient-free walk in mountain territory.

I am fortunate in being able to spend a great deal of my time living in Italy. This has enabled me to explore the countryside and mountains of, particularly, northern Piedmont and the Aosta Valley. If you like warm sunshine, Italian cuisine, traditional events, a relaxed pace of life plus an (optional!) winter sports adrenalin rush, all set against the backdrop of stunning mountains, then this is a place for you! A new talk is in the making...
